And the grass grows all by itself
Thay by Jessica Freedman
Mountain Sangha was formed in 2001 in the tradition of Vietnamese Buddhist Master Thich Nhat Hanh (called, `Thay` by his students). Thay is probably best known for his work in engaged Buddhism, his peace efforts during and after the war in Vietnam, and his poetry. He was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize in 1968 by Martin Luther King. Thay resides in his monastery in Plum Village, France and makes frequent trips to the United States to deliver public talks and offer retreats in the Plum Village tradition. Our mindfulness practices are open to all practitioners and focus on mindful living, self-awareness, compassion in relationships, and mind-body awareness through connecting with our breathing. Throughout each gathering, we employ deep listening without judgment and loving speech.
No prior meditation experience is necessary to enjoy our sessions. We offer guided meditations and instructions to new people joining us for the first time. Attendance is by donation only, and all proceeds benefit the Pine Street Foundation.

My trip to Pune, India preceeded my trip to Plum Village. Some of the highlights include
a road trip to Winzar - a tiny village about 50km from Pune, and secret photographs from
a tropical garden.
